Piers Caldwell (Mr. Squirrel) has been actively immersed in the music and theater worlds for a decade.

When he landed his first gig with a local repertory theater in 1998 at age 10, Piers found himself bitten by the performing bug. He joined an acting troupe, and began appearing in a variety of plays spanning Shakespeare to Neil Simon over the course of the next 8 years.

Throughout this time, however, he was constantly rummaging through record bins and family members’ libraries feeding his passion for music by soaking up the bluesy grit of Led Zeppelin, stepping out into jazz with John Coltrane, exploring the depth of electronic music with Björk, and waving his arms wildly whilst trying to kick it old school with A Tribe Called Quest.

From these foundations he went on to explore his own unique taste with countless other influences. ‘98 not only saw his first performances as an actor, but also his first introduction to club music and culture when he got a hold of a record by Swedish progressive trance act Antiloop. He was instantly hooked and began making mixtapes for friends, venturing into production, and beginning his musical journey in earnest.

10 years later and after over a dozen theater productions, well over two dozen mixtapes, hundreds of hours of production, still more hundreds of records acquired, and some technological upgrades along the way, Piers remains an active artist whose widely varied beginnings and interests are reflected through the constantly evolving and expanding sound of Mr. Squirrel.
